Negative socio-environmental feedback loop may foster inequality for urban marine subsistence fishers

چکیده

In a food-limited urban environment, policy can improve or exacerbate existing inequalities in access to natural resources. While marine subsistence fishers the United States (US) commonly provision their diets using local fish, little is known about how relates fisher vulnerability and socioeconomic disadvantage. Further, it unclear US state agencies consider practices vulnerabilities planning biomonitoring. Data mismatches may prevent from accessing adequate fisheries resources making informed dietary choices, potentially leading unhealthy fish consumption practices. We evaluated potential between fishing practices, policy, by conducting transdisciplinary synthesis of recreational surveys, biomonitoring data, documents New Orleans, Louisiana Tampa, Florida (US). Urban represent heterogeneous community whose diverse were inadequately integrated into public policies. we found an association increased levels neighbourhood This misalignment practice introduce unknown health risks for fishers. make recommendations broadening characterization include non-tribal fishing, utilizing more social science approaches developing integrating decisions, increasing communication across concerning policies affecting

Chaos in two-loop negative feedback systems.

Multiloop delayed negative feedback systems, with each feedback loop having its own characteristic time lag (delay), are used to describe a great variety of systems: optical systems, neural networks, physiological control systems, etc. Previous investigations have shown that if the number of delayed feedback loops is greater than two, the system can exhibit complex dynamics and chaos, but in th...

PERIOD–TIMELESS Interval Timer May Require an Additional Feedback Loop

In this study we present a detailed, mechanism-based mathematical framework of Drosophila circadian rhythms. This framework facilitates a more systematic approach to understanding circadian rhythms using a comprehensive representation of the network underlying this phenomenon. The possible mechanisms underlying the cytoplasmic "interval timer" created by PERIOD-TIMELESS association are investig...

A negative feedback loop attenuates EGF-induced morphological changes

Activation of the EGF receptor tyrosine kinase by ligand indirectly activates a series of other cellular enzymes, including protein kinase C. To test the hypothesis that phosphorylation of the EGF receptor by protein kinase C provides an intracellular negative feedback loop to attenuate EGF receptor signaling, we used scanning EM to follow the characteristic EGF-induced retraction of lamellipod...

Anatomy of a negative feedback loop: the case of IkBa

The magnitude, duration and oscillation of cellular signalling pathway responses are often limited by negative feedback loops, defined as an ‘activator-induced inhibitor’ regulatory motif. Within the NFkB signalling pathway, a key negative feedback regulator is IkBa. We show here that, contrary to current understanding, NFkB-inducible expression is not sufficient for providing effective negativ...

Gene regulation by riboswitches with and without negative feedback loop.

Riboswitches, structured elements in the untranslated regions of messenger RNAs, regulate gene expression by binding specific metabolites. We introduce a kinetic network model that describes the functions of riboswitches at the systems level. Using experimental data for flavin mononucleotide riboswitch as a guide, we show that efficient function, implying a large dynamic range without compromis...
